Finding my Passion
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to study psychology in my undergrad and currently to graduate school for Counseling and Art Therapy. I have always had a love for art, but also for helping others. Once I found a career that combined my strong passion for both, I was so intrigued that I found myself wanting and researching more. This field that sits between psychology, art, and counseling enables me to help a wide variety of people and do what I love!

Art Therapy
You may be asking what is Art Therapy? The American Art Therapy Association (AATA) defines art therapy as "an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience." Art therapist engages the mind, body, and spirit in self-expression and healing which oftentimes gives an empowering voice to an individual. It is important to be trained in art therapy and be aware of the inaccurate use of the term art therapy. For more information please visit the AATA website linked below.

Art is a kind of innate drive that seizes a human being and makes him its instrument. The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but one who allows art to realize its purpose through him
